China should be held responsible for the Coronavirus but should not be punished through tariffs, said Jo Jorgensen, the former Libertarian Presidential Candidate. The tariffs imposed by the U.S. impacted more than $410 billion of imports and exports, and increased consumer costs by roughly $51 billion in 2020, according to the American Action Forum.
The Libertarian presidential candidate for 2020 spoke to Michelle Makori, editor-in-chief of Kitco News at FreedomFest 2021.
“I want to hold China accountable for the Coronavirus. But I do not want to hold them accountable by imposing tariffs, because that is hurting Chinese citizens not the government. I am against trade tariffs with China,” Jorgensen said.
