In this video I talk about the Perth Mint kilo gold bar scandal and how the Perth Mint was accused of diluting or doping their kilo gold bars. The Perth Mint was accused in Sep, 2021 of diluting kilo gold bars and selling them to the SGE. The SGE is the only gold exchange that required the kilo gold bars to have no less than 50ppm of silver in them. Apparently the gold bars coming from the Perth mint were in fact 99.99% gold but also did contain more than 50ppm of silver. The gold bars were trying to be recalled. This is a very strange story and I think that it is completely crazy to require the other metals other than the gold in gold bars to be a certain metal. If a kilo gold bar is stamped 99.99 gold then the 0.01 other metals should be whatever the mint wants them to be. I think that the SGE should have changed their rules and allowed these kilo gold bars to be bought and sold. The Perth Mint was not putting out fake gold or fake gold bars and they were not diluting the gold bars beyond what is normal practice for any mint. What is your theory?
