Cryptocurrency helps gold, said Sandstorm Gold (TSE:SSL) CEO Nolan Watson.
Watson spoke to Kitco on late November.
Watson said cryptocurrencies are “definitely a competitor to gold to a certain extent,” but the total value of gold globally is still several trillion dollars larger than crypto. Nolan added that cryptocurrencies are helping educate others on the reason to hold gold.
“Crypto has just captured the minds and imaginations of all of the young people around there. There’s not a single 20-year-old that I know who doesn’t own some crypto. It’s teaching an entire generation that they need to look for alternatives [to fiat currencies].
Nolan believes there will be some “reckoning” for cryptocurrency holders due to “so much fast money.”
“Gold really is the ‘gold standard’ of alternatives to fiat currencies.”
