The US Federal Reserve hiked interest rates by 75 basis points at its latest meeting, held this week from September 20 to 21. The increase put the target federal funds rate at 3 to 3.25 percent.
Gold remained near lows not seen in over two years as Fed Chair Jerome Powell remained resolute that the central bank will keep raising rates until inflation is under control.
